Comport/Compote dish
in the pattern
Flower Garden with Butterflies
dated to between 1924 and 1934, when the pattern was discontinued. Thus this is not a pattern of prolific production, and more difficult to find. During its heyday, the
Flower Garden with Butterflies was
one of Tiffin's most intricate pressed patterns.
One has to look closely to find the butterfly or butterflies within the heavily patterned Flower Garden pattern. Without a butterfly within the pattern, it is not an authentic piece.
To add to the rarity of this piece is the silver plating applied to the edge of the dish with added black added to the background of the raised pattern, to add dimensionality to this added accent. Based on the age of the piece, there is some loss of the plating on the dish and the base, these are shown in the photos for review. However, the losses do not deter from the beauty of this piece that would add to any ones collection.
This piece should be hand washed, as you would your fine crystal. Thank you for looking!
